Click to expand. The Tavares version was a big R&B single, while the Bee Gees version was never released as a single.I much prefer the Bee Gees version. I don't like the flute in the Tavares version.I also never liked the way 'Boogie Shoes' was sped up. And, notice that no version of the song on any Saturday Night Fever CD or vinyl gets it right?

Since I grew up with the original KC & The Sunshine Band album that originally contained the song, I am used to the original slower pitch that made the song sound like a shuffle. I also acknowledge that the T.K. Single was also sped up. But, I still don't like it that way. Click to expand.I used to think it, the Polydor CD remaster, and the Mobile Fidelity CDs, were superior, partly because of all the stuff I read on this forum.

I remember publically complaining on this forum about what I percieved as the jacked up treble on the Reprise remaster. But, some time ago, I wondered just how different the Reprise remaster was in comparison. So, since I had the highly regarded 'Tales From The Brothers Gibb' boxed set, remastered by forum favorite Dennis Drake, I compared several songs that the box and the Reprise CD had in common. I found in my A/B tests that the Reprise tracks were really close to, if not equal to, the box. Then, I remember comparing that Reprise CD to the original vinyl LP that I bought in 1978.

So, my go-to-CD of the album is the Reprise remaster. I also realized that others opinions can influence your perception of how something sounds. Lesson: do your own analysis.

Somehow, that business about the 'why' of the replacement of 'Jive Talkin' ' versions doesn't surprise me. Knowing a thing or two about the business and procedures of track licensing for films and soundtracks, I've oft-wondered if the inclusion of MFSB's version of 'K-Jee' was due to something about an inability to secure a license for The Nite-Liters' more Latin-tinged original on RCA from 1971 (especially given that, on the soundtrack, it followed 'Salsation' in sequence) - or if it just seemed like it.
